facelift

A facelift, or rhytidectomy, maybe a surgery that improves visible signs of aging within the face and neck, such as:

  1. Relaxation of the skin of the face causing sagging
  2. Deepening of the fold lines between the nose and corner of the mouth
  3. The fat that has fallen or has disappeared
  4. Jowls developing within the cheeks and jaw
  5. Loose skin and excess fat of the neck which will appear as a buccula or “turkey neck”

The loss of youthful contours within the face is often thanks to a spread of things, including thinning of the skin, loss of facial fat, gravity, sun damage, smoking, also as heredity, and stress.

Other procedures that may be performed in conjunction with a facelift are brow lift and eyelid surgery to rejuvenate aging eyes. Fat transfer or fillers could also be suggested to exchange the lost fatty volume. Skin treatments like IPL, dermabrasion, peels, or laser could also be offered to enhance the standard and texture of the skin.

What facelift surgery can’t do

  1. As a restorative surgery, a facelift doesn’t change your fundamental appearance and can’t stop the aging process.
  2. A facelift can only be performed surgically; minimally invasive rejuvenation treatments cannot achieve equivalent results but may help delay the time at which a facelift becomes appropriate and complement the results of surgery.
  3. Some minimally invasive treatments, like somatic cell facelifts, are of unproven benefit.
